Your BAH will be used in one of two ways. You can either rent on post or you can live off post. If you live off post, you can either rent or buy. Click Here for current BAH rates.

Fort Riley is responsible for training Military Transition Teams or MiTTs. These teams consist of 10-15 men who come from the Army, Navy, and Air Force to undergo intense training for a 60-day period. Transition training is focused on teaching soldiers how to mentor and advise Iraqi and Afghan security forces. Fort Riley is located near Junction City, Kansas and covers over 100,000 acres. Housing at Fort Riley is coordinated through the Housing Services Office which is located 45 Barry Ave. Fort Riley has over 3,000 family housing units available on post, and there is a waiting list for housing. Military personnel are recommended to contact the housing office whether in search of on post or off post housing. The office can be contacted directly at 785-239-3525. Homes for rent or sale are offered in nearby communities, and the housing office can help determine the BAH rate that applies to off-post housing units. Single soldiers are required to live in on-post barracks. Temporary lodging is provided by the Fort Riley Army Lodging Office which is located in Carr Hall and is open 24 hours a day. Fort Riley has over 100 rooms available for temporary residents. Advance reservations can be made by calling 785-239-2830.
Fort Riley schools are handled by the School Liaison Officer which is part of the Geary County Unified School District. Whether students live on or off post, children will attend one of five elementary schools and one middle school that are located on post. Students living off post can attend on post schools if it is a benefit to the student to transfer. Many public and private schools are attended by those living off post. 785-239-1648. Fort Riley’s Child Development Center offers full day care, part-day preschool and hourly are services for children from 4 weeks to 12 years of age. The Child, Youth and School Services main building is located at 6620 Normandy Drive and can be contacted at 785-239-9885. Home day care is also provided for military families who live both on and off post.
